Starting June 2023, the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) enacted a new one-time training requirement for all DEA registered practitioners.
All DEA-registered practitioners, except for practitioners that are solely veterinarians are required to take eight hours of training on the treatment and management of patients with opioid or other substance use disorders.
To help you meet this requirement, the office of Interprofessional Continuing Education presents the following courses.
Safe Opioid Prescribing Practices
- Determine whether to initiate opioids for pain.
- Select opioids and determine opioid dosages.
- Decide duration of initial opioid prescription and conducting follow-up.
- Assess risk and address potential harms of opioid use.
