The expert faculty in the Department of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation treat thousands of adults and children with disabilities secondary to a variety of conditions, including the following:
- Traumatic brain injury
- Stroke
- Cerebral palsy

- Parkinson’s disease and movement disorders
- Multiple sclerosis

Being centered at the heart of a top-tier academic medical center, our physicians routinely treat patients with rare complex medical conditions, collaborating with other leaders in the field within the medical center. Our widely published faculty actively collaborate on a variety of research projects, including stem cell implantation in acute and complete cervical spinal cord injuries, traumatic brain injury outcomes and functional (psychogenic) movement disorders.
Our department faculty is dispersed throughout the Chicagoland area, treating patients at Hines Veteran’s Administration Hospital, John H. Stroger, Jr. Hospital of Cook County, University of Illinois Medical Center, Edward-Elmhurst Health System and a variety of independent outpatient clinics.
