Yasmin Cavenagh, DNP, MPH, RN is an Assistant Professor in the department of Women, Children and Family Nursing at RUSH University and has clinical focus in women, children, family, and community health. She holds a faculty practice role in Family Connects, an international program dedicated to providing a continuum of community-based care to postpartum mothers and their babies. Cavenagh received a BSN at North Park University, MPH at Northern Illinois University, MSN at West Suburban College of Nursing and DNP at Loyola University Chicago. She is a strong advocate for community health and has a passion for addressing the social determinants of health that affect health outcomes, especially pregnancy-related outcomes, in under-resourced populations.
Cavenagh was selected as a Nurse Educator Fellow by the Illinois Board of Higher Education in 2019 and is a current Public Voices Fellow with the OpEd Project. She is passionately committed to her role as a nurse educator, to create leaders in the field of nursing to contribute to the advancement of healthcare delivery locally, nationally, and globally and is actively involved in local and international nonprofit organizations dedicated to improving health outcomes in under-resourced communities.
