Warren W. Piette, M.D. is a graduate of the University of Texas Southwestern Medical School. He completed residencies in both internal medicine and dermatology at Parkland Memorial Hospital in Dallas. Prior to his dermatology training, he completed a hematology fellowship, also at Parkland.
In 1982, Piette joined the Department of Dermatology at the University of Iowa College of Medicine as a member of the faculty, achieving the rank of full professor with tenure. He served as vice-chair of the Department of Dermatology and residency program director from 1998 until 2004, when he accepted the position of chair of the Division of Dermatology at Stroger Hospital in Chicago. Piette also served as residency program director at Stroger from 2004 to 2015. In addition to his position at Stroger, Piette is also a professor of dermatology and active attending at Rush University Medical Center.
Piette is a fellow of the American Academy of Dermatology and a member of the American Dermatological Association, Association of Professors of Dermatology, Medical Dermatology Society, United States Cutaneous Lymphoma Consortium, American Society of Hematology and Chicago Dermatological Society. He is board-certified in dermatology, hematology and internal medicine. He has authored or co-authored nearly 100 publications, including more than 40 papers in peer-reviewed journals and more than 50 book chapters
