Walter J. McCarthy, MD, joined Rush University in the early 90’s and has served as the chief of vascular surgery for nearly three decades. McCarthy has been an outstanding scholar devoted to the field of vascular surgery and surgical education. He has served as the president of the Midwestern Vascular Society and continues to contribute to the Society for Vascular Surgery as an historian. He has now taken the role of program director of the vascular surgery fellowship and focuses on outpatient venous interventions.
