Thi Nguyen, PhD, is a neuroscientist, career coach, education and instructional design consultant, and invited speaker. Nguyen has developed a national reputation for creating innovative resources designed to help scientists move ahead in their careers, including 1) “Business Concepts for Life Scientists,” a course hosted by iBiology that teaches basic principles of business, applicable to industry and starting up a research lab. This course is now taught at Rush University’s Graduate College. Nguyen has also worked with the Chan Zuckerberg Biohub to design and deliver an introductory course on research methods for physician scientists.
Nguyen is passionate about creating a supportive and inclusive learning environment for all students and scholars. Her expertise on careers prep comes from working with employers and consultants in the Bay Area, Boston, and now the midwest. She has held positions as associate dean for a graduate school, program director at a career center, educational consultant, visiting scientist with an academic research group, freelance grant evaluator, primary investigator of foundation grants, SBIR ghost writer, and postdoc. Nguyen has a PhD in Neuroscience from UT Southwestern Medical Center.
