Clinically oriented and coordinated research interests in multiple fields within gastrointestinal and liver pathology including allergic colitis, inflammatory bowel disease, radiation injury, post-neoadjuvant assessment of rectal carcinoma, glycogenic hepatopathy and hepatocellular carcinoma and its variants.
Shriram Jakate, MD, has been practicing gastrointestinal and liver pathology since 1993 with an intensely clinically correlative style. This includes evaluation of pathology specimens with review of the electronic medical record, endoscopic report and images, and daily communications with the physician clients. The pathology reports are illustrated with relevant endoscopic and microscopic images. He has a busy consultation practice that includes referrals from regional and out-of-state pathologists and gastroenterologists. He has been an active participant in the weekly multidisciplinary gastrointestinal cancer clinic at Rush University Medical Center since its inception in 2008. He is a teacher and mentor to the residents in pathology and to the fellows in gastroenterology and hepatology.
