Santosh Basapur is a PhD in Systems Design from IIT Institute of Design, Chicago. Basapur joined Rush in 2018 and is the Director of Design in the Provost Office, Rush University. He is an Assistant Professor with joint appointments in The Graduate College and the Rush Medical College. His expertise is in the application of Human-Centered Systems Design methods to translational science research, healthcare delivery design projects as well design-informed health sciences education. His projects include Equitable Primary Care Design, Annual Wellness Visit service design, Family Medicine Team-based Care Design, Design studios for translation science recruitment and retention problems, Neonatal intensive care unit parent support platform design as well as patient-centered critical care (MICU) communication design to help families of MICU patients. Basapur is the founder of the Health and Design System Integration Lab at The Graduate College and leads Rush’s partnership with IIT for Design projects and other initiatives.
