Rebecca Lara, MD, EdM is native to the Chicagoland area. Prior to her arrival at Rush Copley Medical Center, Lara was a faculty member within the Department of Family Medicine at Boston University School of Medicine, where she was the Course Director for the Sub-Internship for Inpatient Family Medicine, the Curriculum Director for Inpatient Medicine for the Family Medicine Residency program, and part of the Inpatient Medicine Leadership team for the Department of Family Medicine.
Lara’s professional and research interests include care team dynamics, care for patients with intellectual disabilities, care for patients with complex medical issues (such as psychological conditions or substance use issues), and reflection in medical education. She is an active member of the Society of Teachers of Family Medicine (STFM) and has presented at numerous conferences including the STFM Annual Spring Conference, the STFM Conference on Medical Student Education, the North American Primary Care Research Group Annual Conference, and the Family Medicine Education Consortium Annual Meeting. She has given various evidence-based educational lectures. Additionally, Lara has participated in peer review for Family Medicine and PRiMER, journals of the STFM.
