Webster Crowley, MD, is the Chief of the Section of Cerebrovascular and Endovascular Neurosurgery, as well as the Surgical Director of the Comprehensive Stroke Center. He is also the Director of the Endovascular Neurosurgery Fellowship.
Crowley completed his undergraduate studies at the University of Iowa, where he played football under legendary coach Hayden Fry. He received his medical doctorate at The George Washington University School of Medicine. Crowley completed his neurosurgical residency training at the University of Virginia, during which he also performed a fellowship at Auckland City Hospital in Auckland, New Zealand. Following completion of his residency, he completed an endovascular neurosurgery fellowship at the Barrow Neurological Institute.
Crowley joined the department in 2016 after several years as a member of the neurosurgical faculty at the University of Virginia. A board-certified neurosurgeon specializing in cerebrovascular and endovascular neurosurgery, Crowley has close to 150 publications in peer-reviewed journals and book chapters. His research interests include stroke, aneurysm treatment, pseudotumor cerebri, and subarachnoid hemorrhage. Crowley’s clinical practice focuses largely on disorders of the blood vessels of the brain and spine, which includes cerebral (brain or intracranial) aneurysms, arteriovenous malformations and fistulae, brain tumors, carotid artery disease, cerebrovascular disease, hemangioblastomas, ischemic stroke, pseudotumor cerebri, subarachnoid hemorrhage, and subdural hematomas.
