Mary Zonsius, PhD, is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Adult Health and Gerontological Nursing and currently serves as the Program Director for Evaluation in the College of Nursing.
Zonsius received her BSN from St Mary’s College of Notre Dame, her Master’s, and PhD in Nursing Science from University of Illinois at Chicago. Her dissertation was titled “Nursing Variables related to the Quality of Nursing Care”.
Zonsius teaches in the DNP program with an emphasis on outcomes research, health policy, project management, and quality and safety in the aging adult. She has advisees in the Transformational Leadership program and guides Adult Gerontology DNP students in their scholarly project. Her interests include Alzheimer’s and dementia related issues as well as improving the care for older adults through quality and safety initiatives. She is a member of the HRSA sponsored Geriatric Workforce Enhancement Program (GWEP) RUSH workgroup for Alzheimer’s disease and related disorders (ADRD). Zonsius is a member of the National DNP Taskforce for the Quality and Safety Education for Nurses (QSEN) Institute.
She has served as chair of the University Curriculum Committee and is a member of the College of Nursing Evaluation committee. Zonsius is also the current president of the Rush CON Gamma Phi Chapter of Sigma Theta Tau International.
