Karen Burns, RN, BSN, RVT, MBA, FSVU, received her BSN from DePaul University in 1987. She worked with a group of vascular surgeons who have been her mentors and have helped make vascular testing and peripheral vascular disease her main professional interest. She received her MBA from Loyola University in 1992. Burns has served on the Board of Directors for the Society for Vascular Ultrasound. She has also served as the Committee Chair for the SVU Annual Conference, Committee Chair for SVU Product Development Team and Co-Chair on the Awards Committee as well as serving on many other committees. Burns also works as a site visitor for the Intersocietal Accreditation Commission.
