Eastwood’s research focuses on student learning in medical and anatomical sciences education. She has published in the areas of interdisciplinary education, socioscientific issues, epistemic cognition, collaborative learning, and novel approaches for teaching histology. Current projects focus on how students’ beliefs about knowledge influence learning in medical education.
Jennifer Eastwood, PhD, joined the Rush University faculty in July of 2022. She received her PhD in Science Education and Master of Science in Anatomy and Cell Biology from Indiana University, Bloomington. Before coming to Rush, she most recently served as Associate Professor of Anatomy and Cell Biology at Burrell College of Osteopathic Medicine. In addition to teaching in the anatomical sciences, she has held administrative positions as assistant dean of faculty affairs, academic coordinator, and course director. Eastwood has experience in curricular design, medical education, and faculty development. Her research focuses on learning in medical education, interdisciplinary teaching, and students’ medical and science epistemologies. Eastwood has also participated in the successful accreditation of three new medical and physician assistant programs and served on numerous committees focused on curriculum, student success, and educator development.
