Most of Schwartz’s research has addressed the measurement of hospital antimicrobial use and misuse and the development of innovative interventions to improve the quality of antibiotic use. Schwartz has also studied a diverse range of other clinical topics, including tuberculosis, HIV/AIDS, Staphylococcus aureus infections, and antibiotic dosing.
Areas of Expertise:
As with nearly all of Schwartz’s ID physician colleagues at Stroger and Rush, years of clinical practice and study and the resulting acumen in HIV/AIDS and diverse hospital (and community) acquired infections has made possible his contributions as a teacher of clinical medicine, as a clinical researcher, and as an administrator.
