David D. Caldarelli, MD, completed medical school at the University of Illinois College of Medicine, his surgical internship at Rush-Presbyterian-St. Luke's Hospital and his ear, nose and throat residency at the University of Illinois Eye and Ear Infirmary Research and Education Hospitals. Caldarelli is a board-certified otolaryngologist with over 40 years of medical experience. He acted as chairperson of the Department of Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery at Rush for 38 years and now serves as chairman emeritus. He is a senior attending physician at Rush University Medical Center and professor at Rush Medical College. Caldarelli's clinical interests include nasal and sinus surgery, oral cancer, throat cancer, sleep apnea, voice disorders and general ear, nose and throat issues in adult patients. Caldarelli is a member of numerous specialty societies, has published more than 85 peer-reviewed articles in otolaryngology journals, and authored numerous text book chapters. He received the American Academy of Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery Prestigious Honor Award in 1999 and has also been named a Castle Connelly America's Top Doctor several times, most recently in 2012.
