Daniel W. Golden, MD, MHPE, is Associate Professor of Radiation Oncology at Rush University. Dr. Golden received his MD in 2007 and MHPE in 2017 from the University of Illinois at Chicago and completed his radiation oncology residency training at the University of Chicago in 2013. Dr. Golden serves as the Residency Program Director and Vice-Chair of Education for the RUSH Department of Radiation Oncology. Dr. Golden also serves as a medical student faculty advisor at RUSH Medical College.
Dr. Golden is board-certified in radiation oncology. His clinical practice focuses on the treatment of cancers of the head, neck, and chest. Dr. Golden’s primary academic focus is medical education including education for medical students and residents as well as patients with cancer. His research has been funded by the National Institutes of Health, Radiation Oncology Institute, Radiological Society of North America, and Bucksbaum Institute for Clinical Excellence. Dr. Golden is chair of the Radiation Oncology Education Collaborative Study Group (ROECSG), an international organization working to develop and disseminate innovations in radiation oncology education. His current research is investigating methods to improve patient-physician communication in the radiation oncology clinic with the goal of reducing patient anxiety through development of the Communicating the External Beam Radiation Experience (CEBRE) graphic narrative discussion guide series in collaboration with the Institute of Design at Illinois Tech. Dr. Golden has authored over 100 peer-reviewed journal articles and has contributed chapters to multiple textbooks.
