  • Chelsey B. Geurkink, MS, MLS(ASCP), SBB is an instructor in the Specialist in Blood Banking and Medical Laboratory Science programs within the College of Health Sciences at Rush University. She holds dual Bachelor of Science degrees in Biology from the University of Wisconsin–Madison and in Medical Laboratory Science from Rush University, where she also earned her Master’s in Clinical Laboratory Management. She is currently pursuing her PhD in Health Sciences with a focus on curriculum and instruction at Rush.

    Chelsey brings a multidisciplinary background in immunohematology with hands-on experience in transfusion services, donor services, and immunohematology reference laboratory settings. She currently serves as the Blood Bank Manager at Rush University Medical Center.

    In 2015, Geurkink was awarded the Teaching Assistant of the Year by the Department of Medical Laboratory Science at Rush University. In recognition of her ongoing contributions to education and professional development in transfusion medicine, she was honored by the Association for the Advancement of Blood & Biotherapies (AABB) in 2019. In 2025, she was elected President of the Illinois Association of Blood Banks (ILABB) reflecting her leadership and dedication to advancing the field of immunohematology.
