Amanda R. Mathew, PhD, is a clinical health psychologist and certified Tobacco Treatment Specialist with expertise in the assessment and treatment of tobacco use. She leads a research program of innovative treatments for smoking cessation adapted to special populations such as those with chronic illnesses and mental health conditions. This research has been supported by competitive grants from the NIH and the American Lung Association, and has translated into more than 30 publications featuring novel assessment and intervention strategies for cigarette smokers. Her long-term goal is to be a leader in the reduction of tobacco-related health disparities.
