Amanda Johnson, DNP, CPNP-AC/PC is an advanced practice registered nurse who began her nursing career as a bedside nurse in a pediatric intensive care unit and transitioned to her current nurse practitioner role with a pediatric neurosurgery team after obtaining her MSN from Rush University. She has been working as a nurse practitioner for over fifteen years and recently became dual certified as both a pediatric primary care and acute care nurse practitioner.
Her doctoral studies focused on structure and coordination of transition care for adolescent patients with neurological shunts to transfer to adult care. She successfully interrogated transition care as part of the routine clinical visits for patients starting at age fourteen. Johnson’s primary teaching responsibilities are with the Acute Care Pediatric DNP program.
