The Center for Academic Excellence supports students across all Rush programs. We offer one-on-one coaching, writing help, workshops, and practical academic support to help you succeed at every stage of your work.
Our Services
All CAE services are free and available to Rush students. Meet with our Academic Specialists for help with:
Writing Support
Get feedback on essays, theses, dissertations, CVs, and personal statements. We can help at any stage: brainstorming ideas, organizing your argument, or polishing a final draft. We also work with students on APA formatting, citation issues, and ESL concerns like grammar and clarity.
Research & Data Support
We offer guidance on capstones, theses, and dissertations from research design to data analysis and presentation. We can also help you learn SPSS, Excel, Jamovi, REDCap, and other research tools. If you're stuck on a statistics assignment or unsure how to interpret your results, we can walk through it with you.
Academic Coaching
Our specialists can help you develop practical skills in time management, test-taking strategies, and managing test anxiety so you can stay organized and perform your best.
Online Resources
Visit our SharePoint for guides and tutorials on writing, research, and academic skills. You'll find resources on topics like advancing your learning, time management, literature reviews, personal statements, and APA formatting. We update these regularly, so check back often or bookmark pages you want to reference later.
How It Works
Book your appointment through Microsoft Bookings. Most sessions are held online via Teams, though some in-person appointments are available. All sessions are confidential.
We provide feedback and guidance on your writing, but we don't offer proofreading or line-by-line editing services.
For the best experience, email your specialist before your appointment with a brief description of what you're working on and what you'd like to focus on. If you have a draft or related materials, send them ahead of time so your specialist can review and we can get right to work when we meet.
