Curriculum

All rotations begin on the first day of the month. The 48-month curriculum is divided as follows:

Anatomic pathology rotations

  • Autopsy / Neuropathology (three months)
  • Breast Surgical Pathology (three months)
  • Cytopathology (three months)
  • Dermatopathology (three months)
  • Forensic Pathology (two months)
  • GI-Small (one month) 
  • GI-Large (four months)
  • GU Surgical Pathology (three months)
  • Gynecologic Pathology (three months)
  • Lung / ENT Surgical Pathology (three months)
  • Renal Pathology (elective)

Clinical pathology rotations

  • Blood Banking / Coagulation (three months)
  • Clinical Laboratory Core Rotation (four months)
  • Flow Cytometry (one month)
  • Hematopathology (three months)
  • Informatics (one month)
  • Laboratory Management (two months)
  • Microbiology (three months)
  • Molecular Diagnostics and Cytogenetics (two months)

Elective rotation (up to two months): Residents may use their elective month for further experience in one of the core rotations or a subspecialty area at Rush or at another ACGME-approved program.
