Directions for Web Courses or Courses with a Web Component

All students may register for web courses. The deadline for Spring Quarter is March 2, 2012 to ensure course access prior to the first day of classes. Students who register for a web course after March 2nd may experience a delay in accessing the course until the second week of the quarter. Note: Students-at-Large will not be allowed to register after March 7th.

Complete the following steps before the first day of the quarter (March 26, 2012):
Please know that you will not have access to your courses until the Friday before the quarter begins.

If you plan to use the computers in the McCormick Educational Technology Center (METC) you can access RULearning by going to http://rulearning.rush.edu.

Your RULearning logon is normally your first initial and up to seven letters of your last name (all one word, lowercase, no hyphens, no apostrophes: i.e., Jim Smith = jsmith or Mary Smith-Jones = msmithjo). If you have a common name your RULearning logon could include a number after your name (such as jsmith2). Your initial password is a randomly generated number that was sent to your Rush Email. Once you log into the system, click on the myPlaces link at the top of the page and go to the Personal Information page to change your password.

There is additional RULearning information on the Rush University website at: www.rushu.rush.edu/metc. At this site, click on more under the Services section to access Support for Students.

If you are planning to access the course from your home or place of employment, there is Internet browser requirements at http://kb.blackboard.com/pages/viewpage.action?pageId=38830689. Read the specific computer hardware and software requirements and, if necessary, download and install the appropriate software. Off-campus students can access RULearning via http://rulearning.rush.edu.

Students may be required to participate in interactive web-based class meetings using Wimba Live Classroom software. A summary of the software requirements appears below. To participate in a Live Classroom class meeting, a microphone and headphones are required; a headset with microphone is preferred. The following operating systems, browsers and connections are compatible with Wimba Live Classroom:

•  Windows XP+, Mac OSX 10.4+ or Linux*
•  256 MB RAM (higher recommended)
•  IE 7.0+, Mozilla 2.0+, Safari 2.+ (Browser must be Java and JavaScript enabled)
•  Internet access at 56k or above (Broadband strongly recommended and for best results do not use wireless)

All students - If you cannot log into your course please contact one of the following offices/individuals for assistance:
1) The Office of the Registrar at (312) 942-5681 (to verify that you are registered; for assistance with your RULearning logon)

3) The Rush Information Services Help Desk at (312) 942-HELP can help you reset your password or with basic technical assistance. For most account-related questions, Help Desk personnel may need information from the Office of the Registrar which can only be obtained during normal business hours.
