Welcome from the Dean

Dean Badrinath Konety

Founded in 1837, Rush Medical College was one the first medical colleges established in the Midwest and has been part of the Chicago community longer than any other health care institution. Although the health care landscape has evolved over the years, our purpose remains the same – to develop empathetic physicians dedicated to outstanding clinical practice, continuous education, research, and service.

I joined the Rush family in July 2020 because I was impressed by the institution’s illustrious history and reputation for excellence in pursuing the multipartite mission of a major academic medical center. I was particularly drawn to the obvious commitment to a social mission and addressing health equity at a community level. The remarkable synergy between all the colleges of Rush University, which has led to Rush being recognized as a national leader in health care quality, was also impressive and inspiring.

I am excited to help continue to propel Rush Medical College on its trajectory of successful transformation into a medical school for the 21st century and beyond. We will continue to build on the innovations already underway in education methods and curriculum. We will focus and integrate our clinical and research enterprise further to boost our world-class research. We will work in tandem with our sister colleges at the University to more broadly embrace interdisciplinary learning and patient care. We will use our academic engine to drive our clinical programs to the pinnacle of excellence.

I invite you to explore our website to learn more about who we are, what we do and why we do it. Please feel free to explore the many resources available to you at Rush Medical College and Rush University Medical Center. Please let us know if we can help you in anyway.
