Who Should Attend?
The RUSH Faculty Practice Summer Institute is the ideal learning environment for department leaders, administrators and business directors, and clinical faculty who are ready to start a faculty practice program at their institution. Breakout sessions will give you the opportunity to network with your peers around the country and at RUSH College of Nursing. We will go in-depth to help you answer your specific questions and problem-solve for your unique situation. If your institution is planning to start its own faculty practice program within the next 3 years, you will benefit from hearing from our experts and building a network of others looking to get their programs up and running.

What Topics Will We Cover?
Our leaders will cover topics including: fostering community partnerships, the finances of faculty practice, engaging faculty, promoting scholarship, supporting students, marketing your program, and much more. During our three days together, we will split time between lectures from our faculty and leadership, breakout sessions in peer groups to do individualized problem solving, and an outing to one of our longtime partner sites.

About RUSH Faculty Practice

The Nation's Most Robust Program

Established in the 1970s by inaugural dean Luther Christman, PhD, RN, FAAN, the RUSH faculty practice program has evolved to serve the healthcare needs of Chicago residents and the educational and scholarship needs of nursing students and faculty. From our first partnership with Chicago Public Schools, RUSH now has more than 25 partner sites located in Chicago’s Near West and South Sides. Nurses provide more than 75,000 hours of direct patient care to historically underserved communities and nearly 25,000 hours of clinical learning experiences to prelicensure and DNP students. In September 2022, the faculty practice program became the Department of Academic Practice Nursing in the College of Nursing.

Recent Presentation Testimonial
"Dr. Moss, over the course of your visit, you interacted with dozens of faculty members. Through those interactions, you helped us to advance our practice mission by sharing best practices for integrating scholarship and teaching into our faculty practice. Your presentation, Redesigning Faculty Practice Models to Strategically Support the School’s Education and Scholarship Mission, was attended by more than 20 of our faculty members. Many faculty members have communicated to me that your presentation helped them to see a new perspective on the value of faculty practice."
