The purpose of Students Against Gun Violence is to increase awareness and education within Rush University Medical Center and the greater Chicago region. As students, we work with faculty, community outreach programs, and local legislators to impact policy change as well as create relationships between the Chicago community and Rush. This year we hope to explore and address deep-seated issues which contribute to gun violence in Chicago. In addition, we hope to establish volunteer opportunities for Rush students throughout the city through our new partnership with Precious Blood Ministries of Reconciliation. Finally, we plan on continuing to work with the Cook County Trauma Department to train volunteers in bleeding emergency response through the national Stop the Bleed initiative.
