Rush University Military Medicine Interest Group (RUMMIG)

The Rush University Military Medicine Interest Group (RUMMIG) serves two main functions. For students who are currently in the Health Professions Scholarship Program (HPSP), the organization acts as a central information hub and support network to help navigate participation in this program. RUMMIG also holds the unique opportunity to educate, train and inspire young military medical officers to be outstanding in their chosen specialties. For the general student population of Rush University, RUMMIG acts as a route of exposure to the unique aspects of military medicine through hosting lectures and educational events. RUMMIG also provides a connection to the world of military medicine which many students would not otherwise experience.

Events hosted by RUMMIG:

  • Lunch & Learn lectures regarding military medicine topics
  • Discussions with retired military healthcare providers
  • Operation Thank You – where we sign thank you cards to be mailed to deployed soldiers
