Program Modules

Module 1: Cultivating Self-Compassion

In an industry rooted in compassion for others, self-compassion is often overlooked. Extensive research indicates that the benefits of self-compassion align with several essential leadership skills: emotional intelligence, resilience, growth mindset, integrity, and compassion toward others.

Learning Objectives:

  • Apply self-compassion core elements
  • Practice deliberately detaching from your perceived failures
  • Adopt a leadership style that models self-compassion

Module 2: Thriving through Flexibility

Research shows that cognitive rigidity significantly limits our capacity for growth and creativity. This session introduces practices that allow you to make values-based choices and take actions to drive organizational outcomes.

Learning Objectives:

  • Identify practices that help stabilize amidst uncertainty
  • Practice perspective-taking as a tool for cognitive flexibility
  • Employ ACT Matrix concepts to making values-based choices

Module 3: Advanced Listening

As leaders, we often experience distractions and stressors that limit our capacity to be fully present with others. This session develops active listening skills to apply with colleagues, patients, and interprofessional teams.

Learning Objectives:

  • Identify behaviors that support active listening
  • Describe barriers to active listening
  • Practice deep listening in a diverse range of situations

Module 4: Post-Traumatic Growth

Most of us have experienced significant disruption in this time of unprecedented change and stress. This session focuses on leveraging these experiences as opportunities for positive growth and transformation.

Learning Objectives:

  • Summarize the 5 domains of post-traumatic growth
  • Examine how opportunities and perspectives facilitate post-traumatic growth
  • Apply post-traumatic growth strategies to a personal experience

Module 5: Restorative Justice

In the face of isolation, disengagement, and conflict, this session offers a pathway to connection, engagement, understanding, and resolution via Restorative Justice principles.

Learning Objectives:

  • Identify basic principles of the Restorative Justice Model
  • Employ Restorative Justice-based questions as a tool for facilitating healing and repair
  • Practice Restorative Justice principles through participation in a Restorative Justice circle experience

Module 6: Reflective Narratives

The stories we tell ourselves shape how we experience the present and find meaning in the past. This session explores the opportunities revealed when we identify alternative ways to tell our stories.

Learning Objectives:

  • Recognize the transformational power of storytelling
  • Describe three types of wounded storyteller narratives
  • Illustrate the meaning-making opportunities revealed by your story
