Ultrasound Fellowship Education
Fellows will receive individualized, hands-on training by leaders in the field. Fellows will follow a structured curriculum with weekly journal clubs, Fellows will also get practice and feedback on bedside teaching, workshop development, slide design and public speaking, curricular development, and ultrasound administration. Fellows will have the opportunity to give lectures and participate in workshops at local, regional, and national conferences. Fellows will also receive individualized research mentoring and the opportunity to be involved in a variety of ultrasound projects. Fellows will be expected to perform >1,000 ultrasound examinations and demonstrate proficiency in ultrasonography, administration, and education. They will be trained to be ultrasound leaders wherever they elect to practice after graduation.
Ultrasound Faculty
Michael Gottlieb, MD, RDMS, FAAEM, FACEP - Ultrasound Division Director
Director of the Emergency Ultrasound Division and Vice Chair of Research at RUSH University Medical Center. He is also the co-creator and Chief Strategic Officer for the Academic Life in Emergency Medicine (ALiEM) Faculty Incubator, as well as the Chair of the ACEP Ultrasound Section and Past-Chair of the AAEM Ultrasound Section. He has authored over 500 peer-reviewed publications and is an Editor for Academic Medicine, Annals of Emergency Medicine, Western Journal of Emergency Medicine, American Journal of Emergency Medicine and Academic Emergency Medicine Education and Training, as well as the Social Media Editor for Academic Emergency Medicine. He is Chair-Elect of the CORD Academy for Scholarship, Past-Chair of the SAEM Education Summit, Past-Chair of the CORD Education Committee, Past-Chair of the CORD Best Practices Subcommittee, and a nationally-recognized speaker and educator. His academic interests include resident education, with a focus on ultrasound and procedural training.
Amy Marks, MD - Ultrasound Fellowship Director
Ultrasound Fellowship Director, Assistant Clerkship Director, and former RUSH Ultrasound fellow. She has spoken nationally and authored multiple publications on point-of-care ultrasound with a focus on ocular and abdominal ultrasound.
Tina Sundaram, MD - Assistant Ultrasound Director
Assistant Ultrasound Director at RUSH University Medical Center. She leads the medical student ultrasound training for RUSH Medical College. She has spoken nationally and authored multiple publications on point-of-care ultrasound with a focus on medical education and procedural applications.
Daven Patel, MD, MPH - Assistant Ultrasound Fellowship Director
Assistant Ultrasound Fellowship Director and former RUSH Ultrasound fellow. He has spoken nationally and authored a number of publications on point-of-care ultrasound with a focus on lung ultrasound and artificial intelligence.
