Master of Science (MS) in Integrated Biomedical Sciences Curriculum

Program Objectives

Our Master of Science in Integrated Biomedical Sciences program introduces the scientific approach and provides opportunities to pursue a directed research project.

You will be prepared to perform advanced biomedical research at colleges and universities, government agencies, hospitals, non-profit agencies and industry.

Our integrated program emphasizes an interdisciplinary approach to biomedical education and research. You will work with faculty to generate new knowledge in biomedicine using sophisticated research methods and approaches.

You can choose research experiences and advisers from the many qualified faculty in RUSH’S academic and clinical departments.

Graduation Requirements

The program is designed to be completed in five consecutive terms and requires completion of at least 37 credits.

Required courses include 15 credits of core courses, two credits of a research area specific course and 20 credits of thesis research.

You will have a research project, write a thesis and give a thesis presentation when the project is complete.

Summer term

Second year

Note

You must register for two credits of Laboratory Rotation I.

If a thesis adviser isn’t chosen after the first laboratory rotation, a second flex-rotation must be approved by the Academic Standards Committee. It may be taken in the spring.

You will need two credits of research-area-specific coursework. Research-area-specific courses should be taken during fall term of the first year.
