Kerri Van Arnem, DSc, PA-C, received her bachelor’s degrees in biological sciences and psychology from Wayne State University in Detroit, MI. Called to serve, she enlisted as a medic in the U.S. Army after 9-11. She then attended the Interservice Physician Assistant Program (IPAP), receiving a BS and a Master of PA Studies from the University of Nebraska and was commissioned as an officer. After a few years of practicing as a Battalion PA, she then earned a Doctor of Science in PA Studies with a focus in Emergency Medicine from Baylor University.
Van Arnem was then appointed as the Phase II Site Clinical Coordinator for IPAP at Fort Carson, CO where she was also staff and preceptor in the Emergency Department. She was then selected to attend the Emergency Medicine Point of Care Ultrasound fellowship at San Antonio Military Medical Center (SAMMC) in San Antonio, TX. After completing the fellowship, she then returned to IPAP and took on many roles to include Associate Professor and staff in SAMMC’s emergency department. After over 20 years of active duty service, Van Arnem retired from the Army, moved back to the area as part of the RUSH team.
