Karen Wright, PhD is committed to benefiting neonatal care by preparing experienced nurses to apply knowledge and critical thinking to the management of high-risk newborns. Wright joined the Department of Women, Children, and Family Nursing in August 2012. Prior to joining Rush, Wright has practiced in acute care as a neonatal nurse practitioner for 25 years and a neonatal transport coordinator for Geisinger Medical Center in Danville, Pennsylvania and in Huntington West Virginia. She completed her PhD at University of Central Florida with a doctoral focus of birth transition success of late preterm infants. Wright completed her Master of Science in Nursing at Medical University of South Carolina in Charleston, and neonatal nurse practitioner program at West Virginia University. Her special interests include neonatal delivery room resuscitation, late preterm infants, and neonatal education.
