Older adults represent the fastest growing segment of patients with epilepsy. Both diagnosis and management of these patients are difficult, and care is best delivered by a knowledgeable, interprofessional care team.

Objectives:

  • Identify common causes for seizures in older adults in both inpatient and outpatient settings.
  • Apply appropriate pharmacologic management techniques of seizures in older adults.
  • Recognize side effects of commonly used medications in older adults.
