Recruitment 2020-21 Information

The COVID-19 pandemic has challenged health care in unprecedented ways and its effects on the 2021 residency application and match cycle are likely to be significant. To comply with social distancing, the Rush Department of Otorhinolaryngology is rapidly developing new curricula around virtual education and telemedicine. This includes virtual educational programs regarding our residency program aimed at medical students. Although these will never fully take the place of in-person experiences, we have tried to provide a comprehensive look at the various aspects of our program. You can find the schedule below.

Please feel free to reach out with any questions you may have.

The Rush Otolaryngology program will fill two spots in the 2021 Match.

We participate in the Electronic Residency Application Service, or ERAS, and National Resident Matching Program, or NRMP.

Please submit the following via ERAS by October 21, 2020 for consideration:

  • ERAS application

  • Personal statement

  • Medical school transcript

  • Medical Student Performance Evaluation

  • Three letters of recommendation

  • U.S. Medical Licensing Examination Step I score

  • USMLE Step II CK score (if available)

Interviews will be held on November 14, 2020, December 4, 2020 and January 9, 2021.

Applicants invited to interview typically have excellent credentials from LCME-accredited medical schools, are in the upper ranks of their medical school classes, are well rounded, and scored well on USMLE Step I. Many demonstrate interest in the field through participation in otolaryngology research while in medical school and demonstrate superb interpersonal skills during the interview.

Qualified applicants must be able to secure temporary licensure in Illinois.

If you have questions or need further information, please contact Sofia Gardanova, Residency Program Manager.
