Welcome to RUSH Emergency Medicine! As a three-year training program, we welcomed our first class in 2017 and match twelve new residents per year. Our academic Emergency Department sees 72,000 patients a year in a state-of-the-art, 40,000 square foot ED which opened in 2012. RUSH Emergency Medicine proudly serves one of the most diverse urban communities in the country.
Our objective is to train outstanding clinicians who are prepared to handle any ED environment and equip them with the skills to be efficient, capable and compassionate Emergency Physicians. As a RUSH resident, you will be trained in one of the most modern Emergency Departments in one of the highest-ranked academic hospitals in the country. Our faculty are experienced educators, with expertise in simulation, ultrasound, toxicology, addiction medicine, administration, research and informatics. Our brand-new simulation center, located next to our department offices and staffed by RUSH Emergency Physicians, is fully incorporated into the didactic curriculum. We have longstanding programs in disaster management, and RUSH is a designated mass casualty receiving facility. Existing fellowships in ultrasound, simulation, informatics, administration, and addiction medicine are a testament to the teaching mission in our department.
