Golden Lamp Dissertation Award
Awarded to students who are enrolled in dissertation coursework. Call for applications are released in the spring. Amount variable up to a maximum of $10,000.
Kellogg Scholarship
Awarded to PhD in Nursing Science students taking Advanced Clinical Research Practicum hours. Amount is $10,000 max.
Rush University College of Nursing Dissertation Grant
Awarded to students to support expenses essential to the dissertation research. Amount is $2,500 and submissions are due the first Monday of every month.
Other Funding Sources
NIH Individual Predoctoral Fellowship (F31)
Awarded to students at all phases of PhD studies. Award includes stipends and tuition/fees. Due dates are 4/8, 8/8, 12/8.
Midwest Nursing Research Society (MNRS) Dissertation Grant
Encourages dissertation research that advances nursing science and practice. Funds are available for quantitative and qualitative research on any topic relevant to nursing science. The grant will be funded up to $2,500
Sigma Theta Tau Scholarship
Eligible students must be enrolled in either an Accelerated Second Degree or Doctor of Nursing Practice program at an accredited US school of nursing. Funding is up to $5,000 per academic year.
American Heart Association (AHA) Predoctoral Fellowship
To enhance the integrated research and clinical training of promising students who are matriculated in pre-doctoral or clinical health professional degree training programs and who intend careers as scientists, physician-scientists or other clinician-scientists, or related careers aimed at improving global cardiovascular health.

Rush University College of Nursing Travel Award
Awarded to students to support travel to conferences to co-present papers with their professors. Amount is $800.

Each year the Midwest Nursing Research Society (MNRS) Student Poster Committee invites schools to reserve spots at the Student Poster Competition at the Annual Research Conference. Rush University College of Nursing can select and send prelicensure students, specialty MSN students, DNP students, and PhD students. Early in the Fall semester the call goes out and students are encouraged to contact their faculty advisor to discuss this wonderful opportunity and to work with them on developing an abstract for submission.
Abstracts are reviewed by the College of Nursing Research Committee in October or November each year. If the student’s abstract is selected by the committee to represent Rush University, they will receive:
- assistance in further development of the abstract and for the poster content
- support for poster production
- partial reimbursement for registration, hotel, and travel expenses.
The annual MNRS conference is held in the Spring.
