Rush University College of Nursing is proud to announce that two PhD students have been selected to receive Jonas Center Scholarships in the amount of $10,000.  Recipients also receive additional funding from the College in coordination with the Jonas Scholarship.  Ben Inventor, MSN, RN has been named the Jonas Nurse Leader Scholar to support his research on managing neuropsychiatric symptoms in persons with dementia who reside in long-term care facilities. Captain (retired USAF) Teresa Yambo, MSN, RN has been named the Jonas Veterans Healthcare Scholar to support her research on the issues faced by wives of returning combat veterans with post-traumatic stress disorder.
The goal of the Jonas Scholars Program is to increase the number of doctorally prepared faculty available to teach in nursing schools nationwide, as advocated by the Institute of Medicine’s recent report, The Future of Nursing: Leading Change, Advancing Health. Supported by the Jonas Family Fund and the Jewish Communal Fund, the program provides financial assistance, leadership development, and mentoring support to expand the pipeline of future nurse faculty into research-focused and practice-focused doctoral nursing programs.
