The Child and Adolescent Psychiatry Fellowship is a two-year Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education-accredited (ACGME) program offering specialized training in the biopsychosocial comprehensive care of children and adolescents with a wide range of psychiatric and neurodevelopmental disorders. Our training spans several sites including:

  • Rush University Medical Center-Illinois Medical District
  • Rush University Children’s Hospital
  • Sonia Shankman Orthogenic Residential School
  • Chicagoland school systems
  • Therapeutic Schools
  • Garfield Park Behavioral Hospital

Child and Adolescent Psychiatry is also one of the more satisfying areas of medicine where you can have successful careers in academia, private practice, research, government, community, school consultation, forensics and telemedicine. The Child and Adolescent faculty at Rush University make every effort to provide our fellows with many opportunities tailored to provide a comprehensive individualized training experience in an evidence and research based environment that is respectful of diversity and intellectually stimulating. We support you in developing the skills, judgment and compassion needed to be an exceptional physician and a phenomenal child psychiatrist.

Clinical experiences cover the full continuum of care, including inpatient, residential, outpatient, chemical dependence, juvenile detention center, clinical research, school consultative services in both general education and therapeutic day schools, and forensic experiences in custody evaluations and court trials.
