The Green Team has a campaign entitled "Come Clean, Go Green" which is designed to help educate members of the Rush community about recycling and other eco-friendly strategies to enhance our sustainability efforts on the medical campus and in our own homes. Our watchwords are recycle, reuse and reduce. Thinking globally and acting locally truly does boil down to decisions each of us makes at work and at home! Reuse means extending the 'life' or repurposing an item rather than discarding or throwing it away. Keep in mind that it requires a lot of resources to both manufacture and to transport nearly all products. That includes products made from recycled content. Buying nothing is usually better for the earth than buying green. The exceptions would be to replace an energy-wasting appliance, car, television, computer monitor with something more efficient.Rush offers several programs for medical center employees to promote reuse of items. We also have some tips for reuse efforts anyone can make at home!
