PA Program Admission Selection Criteria Admission to the PA program is competitive and student selection is based on various factors, such as overall strength of academic performance, type and quality of prior health care experience, including experience working with or shadowing PAs, critical thinking capacity and interpersonal communication skills. The program is rigorous and applicant preparedness for admission will be assessed based on general and science course grade point average, prerequisite course work grade point average, coursework completed prior to application, and performance on the Graduate Record Examination (GRE). Prerequisite courses for MS in PA The following courses must be completed prior to matriculation into the program. Candidates must have at least four of the required courses completed at the time of application submission. Course grades of 3.0 or better are considered competitive. PA Technical Standards The following essential functions are required of all students enrolled in the Rush University physician assistant studies program. Physician assistants (PAs) are responsible for the care of patients, some of whom may be critically ill. PAs are often required to manage patients using complex medical equipment and devices, and to perform highly technical procedures. PAs must also be able to effectively and efficiently communicate with physicians, patients, family members and other health care professionals. Click the "More" link to learn more.
