The RUSH Urology Residency Program is a five-year training program that provides residents with a wide range of experience in all aspects of urologic diagnoses and therapies. Our focus is to train residents who, upon completion, are well-prepared to practice, to seek certification by the American Board of Urology, and to pursue sub-specialization if they choose.

We are proud to have expanded our program, now recruiting three residents each year (which began Academic Year 2022-2023). Residents are trained academically and clinically, guided by faculty well-known in their areas of specialty. Residents actively participate in inpatient, outpatient, and operative care of our diverse patient population.

Didactics are an important element of the program; we have weekly academic conferences within the department, participate in multi-disciplinary tumor boards, and always look forward to welcoming our visiting professors to Chicago.

We have formal and information mentorship programs to promote resident success in and out of the hospital. Professionally, the program director and the clinical competency committee evaluate resident performances semi-annually. Personally, we have bi-annual wellness events, informal gatherings, and look forward to annual holiday parties and graduation ceremonies.

Program Opportunities

We offer robust surgical training in all sub-specialties at a high-volume center, including:

  • Oncologic care including both open and robotic surgery (with both DaVinci XI and SP)
  • Laparoscopic minimally invasive surgery
  • Endoscopic management of stone disease
  • Men’s health and genitourinary reconstruction
  • Female urology
  • Pediatric urology

Our residents stay involved in their respective research areas of interest and present at national and international conferences each year.

Mission Statement
