Welcome From the DirectorResidency training has at its core to expose and educate physicians on the complexities of the specialty. Rush University Medical Center has two mandates: excellence in patient care and a strong focus on education. The program is part of a university system with all primary and specialty assistance available at all hours of the day or night. Physical medicine and rehabilitation is a popular department in the university, evidenced by its frequent visitors from outside schools and rotations from within, including the departments of anesthesiology (pain fellows), geriatrics, neurology, internal medicine and students from the physician assistant studies program at Rush. About The ProgramRush University Medical Center (RUMC) offers a residency program in physical medicine and rehabilitation in cooperation with other medical centers in the Chicago metropolitan area: John H. Stroger Jr. Hospital of Cook County, Edwards Hines, Jr. VA Hospital, University of Illinois Medical Center and Shriners Hospital for Children (Chicago). Along with stimulating experiences obtained from the finest clinicians in the Chicago area, Rush provides a wealth of experience in a variety of institutional and clinical systems. |

How To ApplyRush offers two options for resident training: an "advanced placement" three-year specific physical medicine and rehabilitation program and a "categorical" four-year integrated program. Applicants who wish to enter the three-year program must complete a post-graduate (PGY-1) preliminary or transitional year of residency preferably in internal medicine. |
