About the University Counseling Center

To Make an Appointment call (312) 942-3687 (weekdays, between 8 a.m. and 4:30 p.m.) and speak to our receptionist. Usually an appointment can be scheduled within a few days and often one can be made for the same day. The Counseling Center is located in Kidston, Suite 701. Please click on "Campus Map with Kidston Circled" below to see a map indicating the location of Kidston.

Our hours are: Monday - Friday, 9 a.m. - 5 p.m.

Services Offered by the University Counseling Center

The Counseling Center provides professional counseling at no charge year round for a variety of concerns ranging from stress and anxiety management to depression and relationship problems. In the past, Rush students have sought help for:

  • Troublesome feelings such as depression, anxiety, loneliness, shyness, fear and anger
  • Marital or relationship problems
  • Loss and other forms of bereavement
  • Stress management

Wellness Focus of the Month - Assertiveness

Do you want to feel more confident in expressing your opinions—to be able to “hold your own” in an argument or class discussion? Do you want to be able to express your feelings (whether positive or negative) in a genuine fashion? Or, do you want to limit your tendency to lose control and get angry at those who may not deserve it? If you answered “yes” to any of these questions you may benefit from reading this article and learning how to become more assertive.
