The College of Nursing has scholarships
available from both a general pool of funds and individual, criteria-based awards. In order to be considered for most nursing scholarship awards, students must complete the FAFSA and institutional aid forms available in the Office of Student Financial Aid. The following scholarships highlight only some of the awards available to qualified applicants at the various degree levels. For a more complete listing, go to the Office of Student Financial Aid
Scholarship Funds Are Available
Scholarship funds are available based on financial need through the Office of Student Financial Aid. Students must be accepted to the GEM program and must have a completed financial aid application on file with the office of Student Financial Aid. Currently, a limited number of $10,000 Robert Wood Johnson New Careers in Nursing scholarships are available to diverse and financially disadvantaged students.
Eli and Gertrude Schnitz Scholarship
Based on financial need and merit (3.0 GPA). Applicant must be enrolled in the acute care nurse practitioner program. Awardee will receive the scholarship yearly through graduation.
Homer M. Thomas Scholarship
Based on financial need and merit (3.0 GPA). Awarded annually to two to four unmarried female students residing in the Chicago metropolitan area who are enrolled in the master's program.
Awarded to an underrepresented minority PhD student enrolled full time.
Dean's Scholarship for Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) Study
Any applicant admitted to the PhD program will be considered for a Dean's Scholarship for PhD Study. Admitted students will be considered for awards based on a merit review of their application materials, completion of the FAFSA, financial need and available scholarship resources. Scholarships will be awarded for tuition at Rush, and priority will be given to students who enroll full-time. Recipients may not receive full tuition reimbursements from any other source. Students who receive full tuition from another source after the scholarship has been awarded will forfeit the Dean's Scholarship Award. In the event that that the other award does not cover all of a student's tuition, the Dean's Scholarship may cover the remaining tuition amount.
Golden Lamp Society Awards
Merit scholarships awarded to PhD students who are at the dissertation stage of their studies.
The Rush-Presbyterian-St. Lukes Alumni Association and the Student Nurses Association present awards at Convocation each year based on merit, the student's application and faculty recommendations.
