Rush University Medical Center has produced a video to promote its standing as a translational research center. The clip, which runs nine minutes and 30 seconds, features several members of the Rush staff discussing their projects and their motivations.

"It's about how we live and how we approach our time on this planet," associate provost James Mulshine, MD, said about Rush's commitment to research. "At any given time there's something in excess of 1,500 studies going on."

Among the studies taking place at Rush, as mentioned in the video, are research into Parkinson's, Alzheimer's and lung cancer, as well as neurological and molecular biophysics. However, the researchers believe that the true measure of their work is reflected when they can put it into practice.

"The community is the heart of the hospital, the core of the hospital," said Wrenetha Julion, PhD, MPH, RN, who was recently named as a 2012 Macy Faculty Scholar. "It's where everything starts ... I want to actually impact people's lives."
