|Faculty/Staff Description: ||Derek Stiles first became interested in audiology while working in the department of Neonatology at UCSD Medical Center. He received his Master's degree in Audiology at San Diego State University and completed his clinical fellowship at Massachusetts Eye and Ear Infirmary in Boston. Stiles returned to San Diego to take a position at Rady Children's Hospital as a pediatric audiologist.
Stiles enrolled in the doctoral program at the University of Iowa, and was awarded the Presidential Fellowship to support his studies. Stiles completed his dissertation under the advising of Drs. Ruth Bentler and Karla McGregor.
Stiles is currently an assistant professor at Rush University in Chicago. He teaches Pediatric Audiology, Pediatric Aural Rehabilitation, and Introduction to Amplification. He directs the Child Hearing Lab where he conducts research on the language development of children with hearing loss (see link above).
He is accepting new patients in the Audiology clinic.
