Cheryl Bacon is an advanced-level provider of medical nutrition therapy to adult oncology patients both in the inpatient and outpatient settings. She is a board-certified specialist in oncology nutrition from the Commission on Dietetic Registration and is a board-certified nutrition support clinician from the National Board of Nutrition Support Certification. Her research interests are in the areas of hematopoietic stem cell transplant patients and evaluation of this patient population's nutrition needs. Additionally, as a member of the Nutrition Support Team at Rush, Bacon’s other research interests include quality improvement measures in parenteral nutrition. Her other responsibilities at Rush include serving as a dietetic internship coordinator; coordinating the foodservice management supervised practice and serving as a preceptor through a variety of inpatient and outpatient clinical rotations.
 
Bacon currently serves on numerous professional organizations. For the Dietitians in Nutrition Support Dietetic Practice Group, she is the associate editor of continuing education for Support Line. Additionally Bacon is the acting president for the Chicago Area Society for Parenteral and Enteral Nutrition (CASPEN) and serves as a program reviewer for the Accreditation Council for Education in Nutrition and Dietetics (ACEND).
