Patricia Murphy, has a Master of Arts degree in spirituality and Master of Science and PhD degrees in pastoral counseling. She is also a licensed clinical professional counselor. She teaches research and statistics as well as a course in introductory counseling. Murphy, whose research is in the area of religion/spirituality and health, has both published her work and has spoken nationally. She also provides pastoral counseling services in the medical center's psychiatric units. She received the annual award from the Commission on Ministry in Specialized Settings for her research into the relationship of religion and depression. She is a member of the Society of the Sacred Heart (RSCJ), an international community of Roman Catholic women.
