Four Clinical Nutrition Students in the Spotlight at Rush Research Forum 2014
The 31st annual Rush University Forum for Research and Clinical Investigation was held on April 2 and 3, 2014 at Rush University Medical Center. This event is hosted by Rush University, the Rush University Chapter of Sigma Xi, the John H. Stroger, Jr. Hospital of Cook County and the affiliated hospitals of the Rush System for Health. The Research Forum showcases student, faculty and clinician research activities to cultivate awareness of research at Rush and its associated institutions.
This year two clinical nutrition students gave presentations and received awards for their graduate research.
- Monica Bojko was asked to present her research, entitled, "Protein administration and linear growth in neonatal intensive care patients"
- Kaitlyn Nowacki was granted the College of Health Sciences Dean’s award for her research entitled, “ Body composition assessment in patients on longterm parenteral nutrition utilizing diagnostic computed tomography scans of the third lumbar area.”
Additionally, many graduate students presented posters on thier research. Two received awards:
All of the nutrition students appreciated the opportunity to share their thesis research.
Dr. Heather Rasmussen, faculty member in the Dept of Clinical Nutrition was asked to reprresent the college. She presented some of her research, entitled "Modulation of intestional microbiota and permeability through dietary intervention."
