About Rush University
Welcome, to the Rush Medical College Dean's Office Summer Research Fellowship Program. Applications are accepted in spring of each year by the Office of Medical Student Programs. This program is sponsored by the Rush Medical College Alumni Association and the Office of the Dean, providing medical students with a $4,285 fellowship to carry out either: 1) research with a Rush faculty member for a period of at least eight weeks; or 2) participation in a community service or primary care project.

The goals of the research program are:
  1. To enable a group of students to develop the close interaction with individual faculty members which joint involvement in a research project allows, and
  2. to expose the students to the methodology of posing and seeking answers to research questions.
The goals of the Community Service and Primary Care projects are:
  1. To bring students in contact with Rush primary care physicians connected with a project of importance to that physician's patient population and/or the community served by our institution, and
  2. to give students an experience involving some aspect of patient care or community care in different health care settings.

For both of these projects it is hoped that a true mentoring relationship will develop between the medical student and the faculty preceptor.

Students Please Note: Faculty will be submitting only a research topic and not a complete project description. It is the student's responsibility to consult with the faculty member with whom they intend to work to develop the proposal.
