The Rush sports medicine fellowship program accepts four fellows per year. Applicants must have successfully completed a U.S. or Canadian residency program prior to the fellowship year and be eligible for permanent Illinois licensure.
We participate in the Sports Medicine Fellowship Match sponsored by the AAOS and AANA and administered through the San Francisco Match. Please visit the AOSSM website (www.aossm.org) or the or the San Francisco Match website (www.sfmatch.org) for up-to-date application information. There is no supplemental information required for our program.
Our deadline for completed applications is firm; November 1, 2013. Interviews will be held on Thursday, February 6, 2014 for the 2015 - 16 academic year.
This past year, approximately 110 completed applications were received and 20 applicants were invited to interview for our four positions. Upon review of your application, you will be contacted either by Dr. Bach or Phyllis Velez if an invitation to interview is extended to you. The interview process includes a gathering on Wednesday evening, allowing you to meet the faculty and current fellows in a social setting. Thursday is a full day with one-on-one interviews with the faculty, time for interaction with the current fellows as well as tour of the facilities. Fellows are selected on the basis of their academic accomplishments, letters of recommendation and personal character.
